Baxter von Bassett is just the cutest, happiest little 12 month old Shepherd mixed with Bassett Hound. It doesn’t get much more adorable than Baxter, with those folded ears and that signature basset turn out- all in the loyal package of a loving Shepherd. Having graduated from urban training with flying colors, Baxter has learned to walk like a pro on leash and greet both people and other dogs politely. In typical puppy style, he can barely contain his excitement when someone comes by to say hello (he really likes to give hugs) or when he sniffs something good on his walks, but he listens well to corrections. Baxter is high energy and always game for anything. Got a ball? He’ll catch it for you. Want to play tag? He’s already got a head start! He can be a bit exuberant for some calmer dogs but, if matched with a pup his age, can play for hours with them. Baxter meets some dogs stiffly on leash but eventually relaxes and invites them to play. Off-leash, he enters the play yard nervously but it isn’t long before he is running around with his ears flopping up and down and asking everyone to chase him. The happy-go-lucky guy will do well in an active home and here is his dream schedule: long walks and saying hello to the neighbors in the morning, playing with other doggies in the afternoon and cuddling on the couch in the evenings. He won’t mind if you sneak a training class in on weekends since, while Baxter is all about having fun, he wants to make you proud too. (because of his excited enthusiasm, he needs a home without small kids)
