Bear von Kirchwey is a stunning, large 2 year old German Shepherd. He is a lucky boy and has a Good Samaritan to thank for saving his life. He was left behind in the back yard by his family when they moved away. Here is what his 'savior' had to say about Bear:
During the eight days that I had him at my house in the yard I just fell totally in love with him, and he with me. I would brush him and brush him and he would purr. He loves being brushed, and he also loves hugs. He takes treats of all sizes from your hand so carefully and gently- he does not want to hurt you. He is so proud of his one 'trick' of giving the paw and will just give it over and over. He is just dying for a good owner who will teach him some new tasks. He didn't like the leash at first and would just lay down and roll over onto his back and not go anywhere but after a few days of trying I got him to walk with me. I had bought him a stuffed bone dog toy that he loved and I held it out in front of him to make a game so he would forget he had the leash on. After doing this twice he had learned that the leash was fun and was okay with it after that. He also loves to play fetch and is very gentle with your hand when you take the stick from his mouth. When I drove him in my car for a practice drive as well as when I took him to Malibu he just sat on the backseat looking out the windows, loving it. He didn't climb in the way back or in the front. He is such a smart and good dog.
PS: He also seems to be ok with cats!
