Dexter von Dortmund is a very impressive 18 month old sable German Shepherd.  He is a big boned, large boy, with a great temperament. The sables are known for being bred for health and temperament. They are often the working dogs in Europe. Many Americans really don’t understand what they are, so sometimes spectacular dogs like Dexter have to wait a little longer for a home. When you go into our kennel with barking dogs every where, Dexter is just calmly relaxing and watching the chaos around him. One of our volunteers loves to take him out in the neighborhood. She has taken him to little shopping alleys in the garment district where we are located. Nothing fazes Dexter, bikes and loud people, vendors, he is focused and just trots by your side. He is very good with other dogs and has been well socialized. We are seeing more dogs like Dexter come into the rescue because of so many people losing their homes. One family’s loss will be another family’s gift.
