Duchess von Cheviot is a beautiful 11 month old German Shepherd puppy. She is about 45 pounds now and will probably be around 55 when full grown. She is on the petite side for a shepherd. She has perfect conformation and we got a chuckle to see her put herself into the show stance. She is healthy and active and can keep up with her older foster siblings and enjoyed a 2 mile walk with ease. Duchess is more comfortable with dogs than with people right now. She is a gentle dog and would do nothing more than avoid you. Her foster mom has been keeping her on a leash with her for several hours everyday so she can feel what it is like to be close to someone. German Shepherds have such a special bond with their people, trainers have told us not to worry, that German shepherds like Duchess just need time. She has been good in the house and stays with the other dogs where ever they go she goes. So if they are asleep in the study by their mom, Duchess is close by. Duchess must be in a home with other dogs. We would either like to find her a loving forever home or a foster home where she could continue to be given some one on one attention. Duchess is such a beautiful dog with so much potential, she just needs someone loving and patient.
