Junior von Brinkerhof is a "Size XL" 4 year old teddy bear; well, actually he is a 4 year old long haired German Shepherd. He is so striking in person and has a magnificent coat. Many of the newly arrived dogs don’t like to be brushed, but Junior liked it so much that he sat in the volunteer’s lap and enjoyed every minute of it, soaking up all the good feeling and attention. Junior had been in a family with another dog he adored. When she was old and sick, her owners brought her to the shelter to be euthanized and they felt Junior would miss her too much so they requested that he be euthanized, too. Power to the shelter staff who put Junior someplace safe and waited for us to come meet him! Junior is doing well because he is in our pack with 30 other dogs, but he does need to be in a home with another dog. Hopefully, we would like to place him in a home with either a few dogs or a dog close to his age or younger as he has suffered enough loss. Junior needs someone who will give him a little time to feel comfortable and then he will look at you with the most adoring eyes. It feels pretty good to be adored by the eyes of this big guy! We are asking a $500 donation for Junior to help with the medical expenses of some of our less fortunate dogs.
