Red von Buttons is an 11 month old German shepherd mixed with another handsome smaller breed. Red is about 45 lbs. now, and although he will fill out a little more, he will remain on the smaller side. One of our volunteers refers to him as a “cool little dude” because he is handsome, confident, playful, has a great personality and a great sense of humor. He is housebroken and well mannered. He is a perfect passenger in the car – he just quietly lies down. He LOVES people, adores children and would love to have another dog buddy to play with. As you can see on some of his pictures, he is happy as a clam surrounded by children. He would make a wonderful family pet for a family with active kids who will play and be silly with him. Red is an entertainer and makes up little games for himself. He throws a toy up in the air and catches it. He invented a little game with a leaf. He is one of the most affection dogs we have, and there’s nothing he loves more than to be as close to you as possible, give you kisses, rest his head on your shoulder and just be a lap dog. He is a bit too interested in cats right now, so he would need a home without cats. Don’t let his size fool you, some wonderful things come in smaller packages!!
