Rufus von Rosenblatt is a handsome, XLarge14 month old sable German Shepherd. Everyone is looking for a large German Shepherd; Rufus is more like a small pony. It gives you such a sense of accomplishment to have such a big gorgeous creature, just trotting by your side. He is so gentle and well behaved. He is certainly a gentle giant type. The sable German Shepherd is bred often for health and temperament, but they also have a working drive. Rufus has the striking working line look but seems to be happy just to hang out and be with his person. Rufus was even relaxed at an adoption event and was happy just to lie down next to a volunteer’s chair. He likes other dogs and hasn’t had a problem with any dog any size. We took him into a room with cats wandering around and he was great with them. Later he met a cat that ran outside of the kennel and he was interested, we would need to do another cat test. Rufus knows “sit” and walks well on the leash. He takes treats very gently which fits his personality. He weighs 83 pounds but should weigh 100 pounds once he gains some much needed weight. Our lover boy gives great kisses too!
