Sam von Stradtroda is a stunning 7-8 year old German Shepherd who is a true “wonder dog!”  It’s embarrassing to say but this intelligent, working dog may be smarter than some of us at the rescue.   Intelligent and multi-lingual, our Sam knows his obedience commands in English, German and hand-signs.   Having excellent detection skills and a strong focus, Sam will search for something until he finds it. He is toy and ball-obsessed and loves to play with you, placing a toy in your lap and then nudging you into a game of “keep-away.”  He understands the difference between Frisbee, ball and squeaky toy, fetching from his toy box the one you requested.  Housebroken and gentlemanly in the home, Sam has his special TV shows, a favorite being the Dog TV channel.  Outside the home, his only dislike seems to be fast-moving, external objects like skateboards and bicycles.   Sam has made lots of friends at the rescue, both human and canine, though people introductions are most successful when done via a ball or toy.  At times a goofball and at other times macho, this big guy likes head rubs but he’s not into cuddling.  He will be the perfect companion for the person who adopts him.    If  you are an experienced Shepherd owner and know how to challenge a working dog, Sam’s your man!  (No cats or small dogs, please.)
