Santo von Salvisberg is a charming 2 year old German Shepherd. We spotted him first at a county shelter, unlike most of the dogs there, someone has written across his kennel card, ‘Very sweet dog!’. When we got the required call from the county shelter, it has been explained that with pure bred dogs they have to call a rescue before they euthanize a dog.  The officer was happy when we didn’t even let him finish his sentence, we wanted Santo!  The person who wrote the note across his kennel card was indeed right Santo is a special soul! The ladies who transported him from the shelter were in love too. He was a perfect gentleman in the car. We have introduced Santo to cats and he seems fine. He walks well on the leash. Santo is a typical German Shepherd, he needs some special one on one with you and then he will be devoted. He is distracted when he comes out first to meet people, but they just need to give him a little time. Santo did not come from a home where he got anything. Years ago dogs suffered so much from flea allergies, these days there is no excuse. Santo’s back is healing from his neglect, but in a month he will be good as new. We are hoping he doesn’t have to wait that long for his new home!
